Quality Coffee II: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe
A month ago, I wrote about Fairway’s House Blend. Well, about a week ago, FreshDirect, which is owned and operated by Fairway, came to my building. YAY!!! food delivery. For $32, I got enough food to feed me and The Woman for a week, including coffee.
This time, I ordered Ethiopian Yirgecheffe. Holy smackers is that stuff good. I had some New England Coffee Co. left over. NECC coffee tastes like warm spit compared to Ethiopian Yirgecheffe. The Ethiopian coffee has a bold rich taste. You can taste the soil and the roast (I mean that in a good way). With a teaspoon of sugar and a splash of 1% milk, it’s the perfect cuppajoe. And at $6.99 delivered to my kitchen, you can’t beat that deal with a stick.
Speaking of delivery, I didn’t know that that is how FreshDirect rolls. At the old apartment, Key Food would deliver to the front door of the brownstone, but I’d lug the stuff upstairs. So when my buzzer rang, I grabbed my hand truck to bring my two boxes upstairs. When the elevator arrived, the FreshDirect guy stepped off with my boxes and then actually brought the stuff into the kitchen. Not only did they deliver on time (I selected 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. as my delivery window - the buzzer rang at 6:30), but they delivered beyond expectations.
